A Good Death Starts Here

I am a mom, sister, daughter, aunt, nana, wife and friend. In short, I am a curious human navigating this ever-changing world. I have worn many hats in this life which has given me a broad perspective.  I have learned from my own experience with parenting, daughtering, nursing and marriage,  that the path isn't always meant to be straight. We are designed to wander, to learn and to gain skills to share with othersy insert quote*****

My journey really began  in 2001 when I first learned about Reiki and dowsing at an equine event and became Reiki certified in order to share with my own animals and offer Reiki to others.  This introduction to energy work opened up my world to many healing modalities. My path has meandered through a garden of experiences including  acupuncture, massage, yoga, energy work, meditation and sound therapies. I eventually went on to get certified in Equine Massage and earn a Nursing degree.

 

Nursing opened my eyes to the inside world of healthcare, specifically  long term care. I witnessed wonderful deaths surrounded by loving families and also those who died alone, in pain with no one to advocate for them in their last days. I realized that as a culture we have lost touch with the dying process. We send people to age out in facilities with well meaning staff and medical personnel and this divide can greatly worsen the dying experience.

I knew early on that something had to change. I did my best as a RN but honestly, in a facility with over 30 residents on a unit, staff is spread pretty thin. I didn't ever want to "harden" to the reality as was suggested, I would rather try to improve it.   *******Support, emotional, practical, organizing priority...**********

So here I am! My passion is to restore the compassion, honor and dignity to end of life, without fear of death and dying. Planning, open communication and clear expectations are the back bone of my work.  I am building a network of providers, helpers and advocates to assist with any service a client may need. From event planning and  sitting vigil to assisting with loads of paperwork and organizing priorities, my team is here to make your end of life experience one that you control.
